You survived the most difficult moments from your past and proved you are stronger than you knew.
I believe that therapy needs to include two critical aspects for treatment to be successful: hope and an authentic connection with an empathetic therapist who sees, accepts, and validates the true you. While you are the only one who can make the change for the better, you don’t need to do it alone. I strive to create a judgment-free space where even the parts of you that you don’t like are welcome. I believe in being genuine and authentic in sessions. I may present causal in session, as I believe in modeling behaviors, hoping that it will allow you to be relaxed and comfortable in being your authentic self.
Client feedback is invaluable in individualizing my approach and ensuring services meet your expectations. I often seek clients’ feedback, thoughts, and preferences during treatment to adapt as needs and readiness for change fluctuate. I believe that messages from outside ourselves can significantly influence our worldview and sense of Self. Through this lens, I can support you as you work towards a place of personal acceptance. I offer personalized therapy using an intentionally eclectic modality incorporating treatment methods from many different evidenced-supported approaches. I also believe in the importance of information and education. As such, I provide clients with data throughout therapy by sharing information directly with you in session, suggesting books, or sending you links to podcasts. While not an extensive list, examples of modalities I may incorporate include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment therapy, queer and feminist theories, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused based therapy. Additionally, I always maintain a trauma-informed and systematic lens.
I began my career on the addiction side of mental health. I have since expanded my experiences to work on more generalized mental health, identity, relationship, and sex and sexuality concerns. I am an EMDR-trained therapist. I consider EMDR the most evidence-based supported method of helping individuals overcome trauma without the risk of re-traumatization. I am also working toward sex therapy certification.
I identify as an individual with an invisible disability who is neuro-divergent and queer. In addition, I am a Jewish-American Holocaust descendant and first-generation American on one side of my family. I believe that these aspects of myself allow me a deeper understanding of minority stress and intersectionality of minority identities, as well as the impact that inter-generational trauma can have on a person without them even knowing it. Sadly, it seems difficult to make it through life without experiencing trauma. Knowing that, I try to acknowledge that every person is carrying wounds that are too often not seen or recognized by others but need healing, which I want to help achieve.
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania and am currently studying to be a certified Sex Therapist at Council for Relationships. I am always seeking to learn and grow as a therapist to ensure I offer the most up-to-date theories and interventions I can. I intend to provide trauma-informed care that is multi-culturally sensitive. I try to be mindful of the role of privilege and power dynamics that naturally occur within the therapeutic relationship and when working with minority clients. I work with adults of all ages, am LGBTQ* affirming, kink-aware, and poly-aware, and offer individual, couples, and sex therapy.
