Isabel Cook, LSW, LCSWA

I have always been passionate about supporting people through life’s most difficult and painful experiences. Over the course of my career, I have worked extensively with individuals navigating violence and trauma, and I feel deeply honored to witness the strength and resilience that emerge in the healing process. Above all, I prioritize creating physical, emotional, and mental safety in therapy because I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to grow, recover, and reconnect with themselves.

As a Philadelphia trauma and intimate partner violence therapist, I specialize in working with adults coping with the lasting impact of trauma, domestic or sexual violence, grief, and substance use. I also support clients dealing with issues like grief and self-esteem challenges, recognizing that trauma can affect every area of life. In our work together, I tailor therapy to your unique needs and goals, creating a collaborative relationship that fosters both growth and resilience.

My approach integrates evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. These tools can help you manage overwhelming emotions, reduce distress, and build skills for navigating everyday challenges. At the same time, I view therapy as more than symptom management; it’s a place to rebuild trust in yourself, reclaim your voice, and begin to feel whole again. Narrative therapy helps my clients rewrite their story so that they feel in control.

With a master’s degree in Social Work from Widener University and a focus on trauma-informed care, I bring both professional expertise and compassionate presence into every session. Clients often describe me as empathetic, steady, and validating—a therapist who honors where they’ve been while helping them imagine a safer, more hopeful future.

As a Philadelphia trauma and intimate partner violence therapist, I am committed to helping you create a life grounded in safety, self-understanding, and empowerment. Outside of my clinical practice, I enjoy hiking, camping, live music, cooking, journaling, and spending time with my partner and dog.
