LGBTQIA+, Individual, Relational, Couples, & Sex Therapy
My Therapeutic Approach
Hello! I’m Keeghan (she/her/they/them), a Philadelphia-based individual, couples, and sex therapist at The Better You Institute, supporting young adults and couples seeking greater clarity, emotional connection, and stability in their relationships and inner lives. I also specialize in LGBTQIA+ specific individual and couples issues.
Most people don’t come to therapy because they “don’t know what to do.” They come because they’re tired of carrying it alone, stuck in the same emotional loops, the same relationship dynamics, or the same internal pressure to hold it all together. My approach is attachment-based and grounded in emotional regulation: we slow things down enough to understand what’s happening underneath the surface, and we build practical ways to respond differently when life (or love) gets hard.
I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and groups, and I bring a steady, warm, and direct style to the room. I’m especially drawn to work that helps people feel safer in their bodies and relationships, whether that means processing past experiences through EMDR, strengthening connection in couples therapy, or creating a healthier relationship with intimacy and sexuality through sex therapy. Throughout our work, my goal is simple: help you feel more like yourself- less reactive, less alone, and more able to move through life with clarity and steadiness.
I’ve called Philadelphia home for the past eight years, and I care deeply about supporting this community. I believe therapy should be normal, accessible, and free of shame. I believe seeking support means choosing something different.
What Your Therapy With Me Will Look Like
Therapy with me is collaborative, paced, and grounded in trust. We’ll start by getting clear on what’s bringing you in and what you want to be different, not just in theory, but in your day-to-day life and relationships. Together, we’ll identify patterns that keep showing up (in conflict, in anxiety, in shutdown, in people-pleasing, in disconnection) and build tools that help you meet those moments with more choice.
If you’re coming in as a couple, we’ll pay close attention to the cycle between you, what each of you reaches for when you feel hurt, unseen, or unsafe. The goal isn’t to “communicate better” for a week and then slip back. The goal is to understand the pattern driving the fight and create new experiences of repair, safety, and connection. Over time, many clients notice they can catch the spiral sooner, recover faster after conflict, and feel more emotionally (and physically) close.
No matter what brings you in, you can expect a space where you don’t have to perform. You can be honest, messy, unsure, and real. I’ll meet you with empathy and curiosity, and we’ll work toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that respects your nervous system and your life.
My Therapeutic Education
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and have experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups. My clinical interests include EMDR, attachment-based therapy, emotional regulation, couples therapy, and sex therapy. I’m committed to ongoing learning and to practicing in a thoughtful, evidence-informed way that responds to each client’s unique strengths and needs.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Temple University and my master’s in counseling from Villanova University.
I trained at The Better You Institute during my internship, where I learned to work at the pattern level and help clients move beyond insight to real, in-the-moment change. After that, I worked in community mental health as an Associate Licensed Professional Counselor, which strengthened my ability to support people through high-stress seasons, complex emotions, and real-life constraints. Coming back to my roots, I’m now back at The Better You Institute as a licensed professional counselor ready to help you break out of old patterns and establish newer, more fulfilling processes.
I am a therapist who blends strong local training with real-world clinical experience. I am someone who can be warm and human while also staying grounded, structured, and effective. Whether you’re coming in for relationship repair, emotional regulation, or deeper healing work, my goal is to help you leave therapy with more stability, more self-trust, and tools you can actually use outside the session.
